East Herts District Scouts Centenary Exhibition

A stunning collection of photographs, artefacts and memorabilia that celebrate the scouting movement in East Herfordshire over the last 100 years.

Broxbourne deputy mayor Cllr Mark Mills-Bishop officially opened the East Herts District Scouts centenary exhibition at Lowewood Museum on the 4th July 2009.
Speaking during the opening of the ceremony East Herts Scouts’ district commissioner Frances Johnson said she was delighted when the museum approached her to hold a display to celebrate 100 years of scouting in the borough.
The exhibition, is dedicated to Tom Webb, former East Herts District Scouts president, who died in June.
Items on display at the exhibition cover the 10 decades of Scouting in the district, including a trek cart from the 1940s, an original hand-drawn design of the district badge as well as old uniforms, photos and memorabilia.
Cllr Mills-Bishop said that exhibitions like the Scouting display hosted by Lowewood Museum play an important part in the community by encouraging awareness of local heritage and supporting an education remit of lifelong learning.
