Just some of the items on display at Lowewood Museum

Shoe cart belonging to the old local family business of Carter. He collected shoes which needed repairing in the morning and returned them in the afternoon.

Whisky glass etched Henry Teale
Teale leased the Rye House Estate in the 1840's, turning it into a visitor attraction by displaying such items as the Great Bed of Ware. He died in 1876.


First World War Postcards
These are machine embroided on silk.
They were made in France and sent home by the troops as greetings or birthday cards.
These were sent by a soldier to his sister in Waltham Cross.

First World War Biscuit
A biscuit issued as emergency rations to soldiers of 1914 - 1918.
Many tons of these were buried in braziers to help overcome the intense cold in winter months.
