Cedars Park, Theobalds Lane, Cheshunt
The Enfield Archaeological Society, working with Broxbourne Council and Lowewood Museum, opened trenches on the south side of the 18th Century Flint Follies on July 12th and 13th during National Archaeology Week. This is the first time in over 40 years that a dig has taken place at Theobalds Palace.
Enfield Archaeological Society hope to reveal evidence of the 17th Century banqueting house, or a 16th Century summerhouse which stood nearby and was built by William Cecil to entertain Queen Elizabeth I.
