Draft Hoddesdon Town Centre Strategy: Consultation September – October 2009
The draft town centre strategy has been released for consultation ending on 9 October 2009.
The strategy aims to make sure that the town centre remains a popular destination for shoppers, visitors, traders and other businesses and sets out a number of short, medium and long term actions to achieve this vision. It contains a wide range of proposed measures and policy changes related to access, parking, shopping, public realm improvements, housing, leisure, safety and promotional activity.
The Council sees an urgent need to bring more people into Hoddesdon High Street and proposes to do begin to do this is by opening up the High Street to cars and taxis. The Council wants to use this as a centre-piece of a wider strategy to improve Hoddesdon town centre and is asking residents for their ideas on what else the Strategy should contain as well as their views on opening up the High Street.
The draft strategy is available from the Council’s one stop shops, Council leisure facilities and Hoddesdon library. A four page A4 summary leaflet is also available from all these locations. For more information, or to comment on the proposals contained in the strategy, residents can contact or email hoddesdonstrategy@broxbourne.gov.uk. Comments can also be sent in writing to the Environmental Services Department, Planning Policy Section.
