Lowewood Museum in Hoddesdon has been successful in achieving the Museum Libraries Archives (MLA) accreditation award.
The registration scheme is a national quality assurance scheme; its aims are to ensure museums achieve agreed standards in museum management, collection care and public services for the benefit of the user. By so doing they foster public confidence in museums as custodians of the community’s common heritage.
Accreditation does not exceed five years from date of registration, and the museum must reapply afresh, to meet improved standards. The MLA strives for excellence and the accreditation scheme acknowledges that standards must improve year on year to achieve this, so benchmarks are continually assessed and raised.
To celebrate this success there will be an award presentation ceremony at Lowewood Museum on Tuesday 13 October at 3pm, where Julie Massey, museum development officer for Hertfordshire will officially present the award to Councillor Lyn White, The Mayor of Broxbourne.

The leader of Broxbourne Council, Councillor Ken Ayling, Mayor of Broxbourne, Councillor Mrs Lyn White and Museum Development Officer for Hertfordshire, Julie Massey
