Discover the fascinating story of the local area through displays of geology, social history and photographs of town life in the 19th century. The thriving temporary exhibitions gallery is also not to be missed.
Most of the objects in the museum were donated by members of the local community. If you have an item that has historical links to the Borough of Broxbourne, please contact the Museum Curator before you dispose of it.
Local history unfolds around you with a fascinating collection of photographs and memorabilia depicting town life in the 19th Century, contributed by the local community.
Add to this the temporary exhibitions and the museum is really worth a visit. There is something of interest to everyone, whatever their age.

Lowewood Museum collects and exhibits artefacts, photographs and moving film of the local area. If you have an artefact or piece of film old or relatively new, that has a local connection, and are thinking of disposing or selling it, then call the museum curator.
The museum can provide an identification service free of charge to tell you a bit more about any unusual items you might have. Please contact the museum curator. Please note that valuations cannot be given.
The museum offers plenty for school children. Children will be able to see how their ancestors lived before the age of computers. Groups from schools, clubs and societies are very welcome.
