There are eight flats in all, four ground floor and four first floor-all with one bedroom. The flats have been designed with a focus on comfort and convenience for elderly people.
Wherever possible, for example, the fittings have been kept at such a height as to avoid any bending. The living rooms and bedrooms face south as do the loggias and balconies, which look out over the grass concourse in front of the flats. This area is kept clear by positioning all the accesses to the flats at the rear, and these are lit by a time-controlled system. Each flat has its own individual garden and drying facilities, and there is spacious storage room.
There are no fireplaces in the flats, heating and cooling is by Sugg Halcyon selected warm and cool air heater/coolers carried to all rooms by means of ducting.
The water heater is the "under the draining board" type and consists of an insulated storage container, gas heated and thermostatically controlled.
The flooring is parquet and thermo- plastic and the flats have low flush toilets and baths with safety handrails.
The flats have an inbuilt aerial system connected to a master T.V. aerial.
Builders of the flats were Town and Stone, of Enfield, and clerk of the works was Mr. J. D. Ives.
